Third set: Jabeur * 6-3, 2-6, 0-1 Rybakina (* indicates server) Well, this second set was almost as one-sided as the first, certainly 3-1 after some first two battles . The momentum is all with Rybakina right now and she starts the third and final set passing deftly at Jabeur to take the 0-15 lead.

The right side of the Rybakina crosswalk has been purring, but it’s a long way from that … or not? Hawkeye shows the ball cutting the line and the 0-30. You can feel the importance of this next point … and Rybakina scores a right-footed shot to go up 15-30. Again, Rybakina’s right to Jabeur’s right is effective and has two breaking points. Jabeur saves the first with a good first serve, but makes a good hash of what should be a regular winner on the net and Rybakina is able to fly out for the break!

Elena Rybakina wins the second set 6-2

Second set: Jabeur 6-3, 2-6 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Rybakina’s service has once again become the weapon that has been the whole tournament and goes 40-0 without sweating in this one. Three points out of seven … and you take the first one with an ace! We are in a decisive.

Second set: Jabeur * 6-3, 2-5 Rybakina (* indicates server) A little help from the network cord allows Rybakina to go up 0-30 and Jabeur may be letting his thoughts drift towards a decisive set . Looks like he could do it with a mental recovery right now. Still, he struggles to get back to 40-30 and a good first serve to the next means Rybakina will have to serve him.

Second set: Jabeur 6-3, 1-5 Rybakina * (* indicates server) A fierce ace puts Rybakina 30-0 ahead in this one and it’s Jabeur’s turn to reflect on how the hell the momentum will change. A simple retention at 15.

Second set: Jabeur * 6-3, 1-4 Rybakina (* indicates server) The last three games have been epic and we are quickly at 30-all back in this one. Jabeur misses a right-footed shot on the line and Rybakina has a break point at 30-40. There shouldn’t be another long battle here, though: Jabeur lengthens and Rybakina has the double break!

Second set: Jabeur 6-3, 1-3 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Here are some belt winners from both players, but again Rybakina is in the lead in the first exchanges. The nerves, however, have not disappeared completely: he should stop the game with a 40-15, but he fails wildly with a simple passing shot on the net, and in the blink of an eye we return to the departure.

Jabeur changes the angles brilliantly to force his opponent to make an awkward right from the long bottom line until he reaches a breaking point … but a thunderous right from Rybakina saves him. Again, Rybakina is far from the next: another breaking point … another stop. A double foul and another breaking point … and Jabeur scored a setback to return to a fifth dou. And Rybakina finally takes over (again after the referee had deterred Jabeur from a challenge – Hawkeye shows the service was wide).

Second set: Jabeur * 6-3, 1-2 Rybakina (* indicates server) Jabeur has clearly marked the ball as an old gray central half at the end of the last game and here he tries a tweener to entertain the audience. Rybakina has nothing and backs down the line to take us to 30-all.

Jabeur responds by sending his opponent out, dragging him inside with a loose shot and then passing it easily. Rybakina, however, chases another shot from the next and takes us two. And from the second ten he chases another brilliant lap on a winning cross country track. Another breaking point … but a setback from Jabeur grabs the rope from the net and leaves. A couple of points later Jabeur escapes with the dam, but the traffic is no longer one-way.

Second set: Jabeur 6-3, 0-2 Rybakina * (* indicates server) This break has put a spring in the step of Rybakina, which forces Jabeur to make a couple of mistakes and climbs 30-0. An amazing volley from the blank point makes Jabeur return to the game with 30-15, but a pass shot when Rybakina charges the net is deflected.

I should put the game to bed from the next day … but get away a lot with a simple right hand … or not? The referee whistles for a foul Hawkeye is guilty of misconduct. 40-30 and two points later Jabeur has a breaking point, but a booming service crushes that hope. And a couple of command points from the Kazakh player give her the lookout and avoid turning this line call into a very controversial moment.

Second set: Jabeur * 6-3, 0-1 Rybakina (* indicates server) It was a rather one-sided first set in the end: Jabeur won it with two breaks and was never threatened by his own service. Rybakina needs to increase his game and fast: solving his first service malfunction would be a start.

Before that, Jabeur kicks us into the second set, scoring a live to take us to 30-all. And a fantastic live on the line gives Rybakina a first break point of the game at 30-40 … and Jabeur scores a right to give his opponent an early break. This came out of nowhere.

Ons Jabeur wins the first set 6-3

First set: Jabeur 6-3 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Rybakina scores a routine live from midfield and starts to look a little discouraged: he misses twice from the next and Jabeur is two points away from the first set at 0. -30. Another wild and long live takes us to 0-40 and three points from seven for Jabeur … of which he only needs one!

First set: Jabeur * 5-3 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Jabeur serves with new balls and feels emboldened to load the net. Rybakina’s attempt to throw is well deflected. At 30-0 we have a bursting rally, Jabeur’s shot forces Rybakina to respond with the same but then fails once in the net. Jabeur, who has very few problems in his service at the moment, clings to love.

First set: Jabeur 4-3 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Jabeur again maintains a return of a second Rybakina service between lines, then gets the best of concentration: a real pattern in these initial exchanges, but none in which can repeat. the rest of this game. Rybakina gets a control that increases confidence to 15.

First set: Jabeur * 4-2 Rybakina (* indicates server) At 30-15, Jabeur makes a rare mistake and walks away with a live to show 30, but a 110 mph service is an illustration of his own power and Rybakina fits the next, so it’s another trouble-free prey for the Tunisian.

First set: Jabeur 3-2 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Jabeur looks 15-30 back at Rybakina’s serve … but a sweet hit behind a pair of crisp first serves brings Rybakina 40-30 up. Jabeur, however, does not stop and again forces an error -deuce- and then launches a second floating service to get another breaking point. A wild live brings us back to the day.

The Tunisian is sending more slices than a pizza factory and again Rybakina is wrong to raise another breaking point … but this time Jabeur gets a throwing attempt. And, blessed relief for Rybakina, when his opponent scores again, he has a hard-won control.

First set: Jabeur * 3-1 Rybakina (* indicates server) Jabeur is advancing now and is achieved with a 30-0 lead, throwing the fist after each successful point. A pretty noticeable setback on the cross court leaves Rybakina stranded on the net by 40-0 and a crunchy serve gives the No. 3 seed a routine and safe catch.

First set: Jabeur 2-1 Rybakina * (* indicates server) Feel that Jabeur has to attack the second serve and here he does, a blunt setback that makes her enter the game at 15-15. A sloppy right from Rybakina sinks to the next and takes us to 15-30 and a first real pressure point.

A delicious cross back from Rybakina brings him back to 30, but Jabeur picks up the pace of the ball again and catches the error to win a 30-40 break point. And Rybakina, struggling to cope with the Jabeur variety, comes out very far from the baseline again. We have an early break!

First set: Jabeur * 1-1 Rybakina (* indicates server) Jabeur starts with confidence in his service and a broken ace in the center gives him a 40-15 lead, but a brilliant direct on Rybakina’s line makes his return ability. 40-30 … but Rybakina is deflected with a setback and Jabeur holds on.

First set: Jabeur 0-1 Rybakina * (* indicates server) So here we go. Jabeur won the draw and decided to receive it, presumably in the hope that the first nerves would shake Rybakina’s booming service. There are no signs of early Kazakh nervousness, however, with Jabeur able to recover only one of the first three services at stake. This allows Rybakina to advance with a 40-0, but when Jabeur can get a rally, there is much more joy for her and she fights back to 40-30 before a strong right kick from her opponent makes her on the board.

The players leave the central court and are greeted by a warm shout. Warm is also the word: it’s hot in London today.

Ons Jabuer is in the tunnel before and it seems pretty emotional to be just moments away from a Wimbledon final. Elena Rybakina has joined her and now we don’t have much time to wait.
