Two more hosts have come forward to join the project desk in 2023 amid a major overhaul of the current affairs programme.
The Sun Herald has revealed that comedians Sam Taunton and Michael Hing are the latest recruits for the new-look panel, which also features Waleed Aly, Sarah Harris, Hamish Macdonald and Georgie Tunny.
The announcement follows the departure of original host Carrie Bickmore, along with Peter Helliar and Lisa Wilkinson.
Taunton, who has previously appeared as a guest contributor to the projectwill take place from Monday to Thursday nights, while Triple J host and podcaster Drive Hing will join Macdonald and Tunny on Friday and Sunday.
The host’s latest announcement comes just weeks after it was revealed Study 10 host Sarah Harris would replace Bickmore, who recently said goodbye to the show after 13 years.
“This is one of the biggest and best jobs on television. How could I say no?” Harris said in a statement published by Ten.
“I’m really excited to be joining one of Australia’s most iconic and agenda-driven driving shows. The project makes news like no other show in Australia and is exactly the kind of fun, fearless TV that I love do.
“I can’t wait to share the desk with Waleed, Hamish, Georgie and the rest of the team. I’m excited to shake it up in the new year!”
Meanwhile, Wilkinson shocked viewers last month when she announced she was leaving the project, effective immediately. He revealed live on air that he had decided it was “time to re-prioritize some things”, citing “relentless and targeted toxicity” over the past six months as the reason for his resignation.
The following night, Helliar said he was stepping away to focus on other professional commitments.
“I’ve had something on my mind for a while, people will read the situation however they want, but I feel like I need to create a space for some projects I want to work on,” he said.
The new look project will return on Sunday, January 8.
