Final of the Ally Pally Darts World Championship!
And it will be Michael van Gerwen vs Michael Smith in a repeat of the show from 2019. MVG won this one 7-3 and entered this year’s final after beating Dimitri van den Bergh 6-0 in their semi-final yesterday night. While Michael Smith overcame German giant Gabriel Clemens 6-2 to reach his third World Darts Championship final.
As well as losing to Van Gerwen four years ago, Smith was also in last year’s final but was defeated by Peter Wright.
Smith said after his semi-final victory: “I banned my boys today because they left me out. But they’ll be back in the final.
“Before the final, I’ll stay in bed all day and watch episodes of Catchphrase. Every morning, I watch them, there’s nothing else on TV at the time.
“It’s my third world final in five years, I’ve got to keep going.”
As Van Gerwen said after his dominant semi-final victory: “Michael Smith is not going to stop me, nobody is going to stop me.
“I feel good, comfortable, I’m playing good darts and the crowd deserves a final like this.”
