Diaz vs. Ferguson took place on September 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nate Diaz (21-13) and Tony Ferguson (25-8) clashed in the main event. The fight was broadcast live on UFC pay-per-view.

Round 1
Diaz comes out slapping him, but Ferguson quickly shrugs him off. We already have some spinning Ferguson shit. There is no sensational process here.
The action settles down and Diaz seems content to let little Ferguson advance. Blood drips from a cut on Ferguson’s left leg from a sharp kick. Ferguson mimics Diaz’s sideways pose and starts laughing. Ferguson with a couple of leg kicks. Right hand to the body from Ferguson. There’s Diaz with a clean left hand to the face and Ferguson loves it.
Diaz with a nice counter punch as Ferguson moves forward. Ferguson leads with an elbow, but Diaz reads it and hits Ferguson with a combination. Ferguson fires in with a hard kick to the body. Diaz figures out the range and lands a couple of punches. Ferguson’s spin attack isn’t close. Diaz ends round 1 with a short combo.

Round 2
Diaz with good setup to land a strong outside leg kick. Ferguson slips a right hand through Diaz’s defenses. Diaz goes after him and Ferguson catches him with a jab. Diaz throwing this shot with confidence. Ferguson defends against a combination. Ferguson looks loose now and that right hand lands again.
Diaz with a straight left. Ferguson grabs a leg and scores with a right. He hits an inside leg kick as Diaz comes forward. Diaz is looking for bosses now. Cut over Ferguson’s right eye is giving him trouble. Ninety seconds left and Diaz turns it on again.
Above left by Díaz. Diaz scores with a combination. Ferguson wants to stay in the pocket, but Diaz spins and uses his range.

Round 3
Ferguson tries to back Diaz up with kicks, but Diaz continues to lean forward, looking for punches. A hard kick to the inside of the leg gets a reaction from Diaz. He walks away and Ferguson stands in the middle of the Octagon, pointing at an imaginary clock. He falls on his back and mocks Diaz. Goddard motions for Diaz to return to the center and continue fighting.
Hard exchange between the fighters as the action resumes, then Diaz hits Ferguson with a hard leg kick. Diaz smiles and takes a breather against the cage. This got weird very quickly.
More leg kicks from Ferguson. Diaz takes a… casual approach, to put it mildly. Diaz comes in with punches. Ferguson evasive. Diaz turns his back on Ferguson and starts yelling at someone on the side of the cage.
Diaz is doing a good job when he takes it seriously. Now it’s Ferguson on the back foot. Diaz hurting with kicks to the body. He leans in and invites Ferguson to attack him. Ferguson didn’t look as relaxed as he did a few minutes ago. A punch lands for Ferguson. Diaz throws to the head and this is another strong finish to a round for him, albeit an incredibly odd round.

Round 4
Ferguson comes back to the body with kicks. He ducks for an ankle drop and Diaz just kicks out of it. Front kicks to the body by Diaz. Ferguson succeeds with the jab and follows up with an inside leg kick. Ferguson’s shovel kick lands before kicking out. Slow start for Diaz in this round, will he be late as usual?
Just then, Diaz connects with a hard shot and Ferguson has to retire. Multiple punches land on Diaz. Ferguson is just fighting to stay out of the cage. He hits Diaz with a left hook to the body. Diaz body slams Ferguson and then back to the head. Ferguson takes down, but falls right into a guillotine. Diaz sinks him and the tap comes quickly!
