Brendan Rodgers wants a solution to the Wesley Fofana situation as soon as possible, with the defender currently not playing for Leicester or training with their first team.
Fofana missed out again last night as the Foxes beat League Two’s Stockport County on penalties to make the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Rodgers said afterward: “Of course, if that’s the case [him leaving] it happens, the sooner the better, because it can allow us to do some work [in the transfer window].
“He’s training with the Under-23s so he can be fit and keep working. It’s very important at this stage to control any distractions that might be there.
“He’s a good kid, it’s been a very difficult situation for him. I’ve had several times in my career where there are players who can deal with it, deal with it, push through, want to help their team… fellows, there are others who cannot cope with distraction.
“These guys are well paid. The least you can do is show up [to training]. And if you don’t, with all due respect, you can’t think you can get into our group.”
