Australian Influenza Surveillance Reports – 2020

Description of the collection

The Australian Influenza Surveillance Report (AISR) is compiled from a number of data sources, which are used to monitor the activity and severity of influenza in the community. These data sources include:

  • laboratory confirmed notifications to NNDSS
  • hospitalizations associated with the flu
  • Reports of sentinel influenza-like illness (ILI) from general practitioners
  • Community level surveys related to ILI
  • sentinel laboratory test results.

The AISR is published biweekly during the flu season, usually between May and October. Flu activity updates may be posted outside of the seasonal period.
