Millions of Britons will be hit by stealth tax and spending cuts revealed by Jeremy Hunt in the Autumn Statement.
The chancellor said there would be a “shallower fall” as a result of his measures, but also revealed the Office for Budget Responsibility believed the economy was now in recession.
The OBR forecast Britain’s economy would shrink by 1.4% next year, Mr Hunt said, and that inflation would be 9.1% this year and 7.4% next year.
