Warzone 2’s armor piercing ammo now doesn’t

(Pocket-lint) – Activision has updated their Warzone 2 game with one of the weirdest moves you’re likely to see, nerfing armor-piercing ammo so it doesn’t.

Yes, you read that right. Activision has altered their armor piercing ammo, removing the effect that meant it could pierce armor.

The move was mentioned in the Warzone 2 release notes, with Activision saying it “removed the damage multiplier against armored opponents.” Considering this seems to be the main reason for using this ammo in the first place, it’s fair to say that the Call of Duty community is a bit confused by this change. It should be too.

That’s not to say that these rounds now have no use, though. Armor piercing ammo can still do more damage to vehicles and kill rats than other types, so be aware of that. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that the change is weird, even though it might actually make sense in the grand scheme of things.

Some might argue that the problem here isn’t the change in how the ammo works, but the fact that the name no longer makes much sense considering what the ammo will actually do. Especially considering the fact that Warzone 2 launched with armour-piercing ammunition capable of piercing armor.

Are you still confused? Well, glad we could help. At least the update did other things like fix the audio notifications for when The Jailer enters the Gulag.
