Looks like Xiaomi has a new budget Redmi phone on the way. The Redmi A1, not to be confused with the rather old Xiaomi Mi A1 (Mi 5x), was introduced in a couple of extensive leaks. First things first, though, is that Xiaomi has just released an official teaser for the device, along with some high-quality renders that show off a pair of nice, soft pastel colors for the phone and a leather texture-style finish for in the back.

The teaser page also mentions a 5,000mAh battery. As for the rest of the specifications, we have to resort to one of the leaks. The Redmi A1 is said to feature a 6.52-inch HD+, 1600 x 720 pixels, 20:9 display with a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset, along with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. All this, plus the 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging, dual SIM and microSD card slots, 3.5mm jack and FM radio, will be packed into a 164.9mm x 76.75mm x 9.09mm and 192g.

The camera setup includes an 8MP, f/2.0 main snapper with an f/2.2 supplementary camera, likely a depth sensor. On the front: a 5MP selfie, f/2.2. Other known features include Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi n, as well as Android 12.
Xiaomi Redmi A1 in the wild
Last but not least, we also have a live photo of the device. Unfortunately, it shows its front instead of the much more interesting leather-style back. There’s no word on pricing yet, but we do know from Xiaomi itself that the Redmi A1 is the first in the new series of Redmi Made In India smartphones and that it will have a global launch.
