Ukraine Live Conference: Gunman Attacks Russian Military Center; protests continue for the mobilization

A man opened fire at a Siberian military recruitment office on Monday, the latest sign of unrest in Russia after President Vladimir Putin announced a military mobilization affecting up to 300,000 reservists across the country.

At least 100 people were arrested in Russia’s southwestern Dagestan region on Sunday, according to human rights group OVD-Info, as protesters gathered in the regional capital, Makhachkala, to condemn the war in Ukraine. In a speech on Sunday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the protests by urging Russians to “fight to make sure your children are not sent to die.”
