Three dead after shooting in North Queensland’s Bogie, man taken to Mackay Base Hospital in critical condition

Three people have been found dead after a shooting on a rural property in Bogie, near Collinsville, this morning and one man is in critical condition, police have confirmed.

Key Points:

  • The shooter remains at large with an extensive police search underway
  • A man was taken to hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen
  • Bogie residents are advised to stay away from the area

Police have issued a declaration of emergency under the Public Safety Preservation Act for an area of Shannonvale Road, southeast of Collinsville, as the shooter remains at large.

“We believe the people who shot them may be in the area, so we’re doing our own searches,” Mackay District Superintendent Tom Armitt said.

Police said the injured man was located in a vehicle in Flagstone and was flown to Mackay Base Hospital by helicopter with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

An emergency declaration was made today for an area bounded by Sutherland Road, Normanby Road, Mount Compton Road and Starvation Creek, but this afternoon police revoked that declaration after determining “a new location where it is believed “has produced the incident”.
