OnePlus has launched its latest smartphone in China and unveiled new wireless headphones. The 2023 flagship smartphone market is open for business.

Naturally, the OnePlus 11 5G brings with it the “big ticket” items you’d expect in a flagship for 2023. That means it’s one of the first phones to ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system on chip, combining it with up to 16GB of RAM, a 6.7-inch 2K resolution display that has a 120Hz refresh rate and fast charging with a 5000mAh battery.
This all looks great on paper, and I’m looking forward to seeing how well this holds up in everyday life in Scotland, while the OnePlus 11 5G is a China-launched device, a global launch has been announced for at the beginning of February.
OnePlus has also announced new details about the imaging system, including the return of Hasselblad to the platform. The company’s smartphone cameras, while great for everyday use, can fall short of other premium flagships when put to detailed review and comparisons. Will the OnePlus 11 5G’s new technology, combined with the latest version of OnePlus’ camera software, push it closer to the top of the camera charts? Time will tell.
OnePlus’ next audio product was showcased at the same event. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 builds on the success of the previous Buds. Of particular note is the focus on spatial sound, with OnePlus noting the ability to “upscale” stereo sound to spatial sound; Six-axis monitoring of the user’s head moment stories keeps the sound “centered”
The first OnePlus Buds Pro delivered clear and crisp sound as well as plenty of bass for in-ear headphones. With audio output from Danish speaker experts, Dynaudio does for sound what Hasselblad will do for picture.
