A man is in a stable condition after he staggered into a crowded Gold Coast restaurant bleeding from multiple stab wounds overnight.
The 31-year-old walked into a popular Mermaid Beach restaurant at around 8.15pm.
He was bleeding so much that diners called paramedics.

The man was found to have stab wounds to his neck, stomach and chest.
The police investigate the scene not only in the restaurant, but also in a nearby street.
They said the man may have been stabbed in a different location before fleeing to the restaurant for help.

The man underwent emergency surgery overnight and is in a stable condition.
Police have yet to formally speak to him and no arrests have been made.
