Singer and rapper Aaron Carter dies in California at the age of 34

Aaron Carter, the singer and rapper who started performing as a child and had hit albums as a teenager, was found dead at his home in Southern California on Saturday. He was 34 years old.

A spokesperson for the LA County Sheriff’s Department told CNN that they responded to a call for help at Carter’s home in Lancaster, California on Saturday morning, where one person was found dead at the scene.

Carter’s family representatives confirmed the singer’s death. They had no further immediate comment.

He was found dead in his bathtub, the source said.

Carter rose to fame after releasing his second album, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) in 2000, which went on to sell three million copies.

The popular album featured the hit singles “I Want Candy” and “That’s How I Beat Shaq.”

Carter, the younger brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, opened for Britney Spears as well as his brother’s boy band, and appeared on the family reality series “House of Carters” that aired on And! Entertainment television.

He was also an actor, making cameos as himself in television shows such as Lizzie McGuire and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Carter also appeared on Dancing with the Stars in the US in 2009.

Most recently, Carter released her fifth and final studio album, “LOVE,” in 2018.

Carter is survived by 11-month-old son Prince, born Martin in November 2021.
