Florida State leads LSU 17-10 after three quarters in New Orleans as the penultimate game of Week 1 nears its conclusion. FSU quarterback Jordan Travis connected with Ontaria Wilson for a 27-yard strike — Wilson made a stellar one-handed catch near the pylon to make it a two-score game in the middle of the frame. That play included a targeting call on star LSU linebacker Ali Gaye, who hit QB Jayden Daniels with a flagrant helmet-to-helmet hit that sent Gaye packing for the rest of the night.
LSU reloaded, though. Aided by 30 yards of penalties, the Tigers embarked on an 82-yard drive capped by a 1-yard plunge by Noah Cain on fourth-and-goal. That drive was the first time all game that LSU looked like a competent offense, and the purple and gold crowd has come alive as both teams head into the final stretch.
Daniels has been running for his life from a Seminoles defensive front that has been living in the backfield. The pressure has relegated Daniels to a “read and bail” quarterback, preventing him from finding his receivers deep.
