Rylan Clark has revealed he was rushed to hospital twice after his “heart stopped” last year.

The TV personality, 33, admitted she went through a terrible experience during her split from husband Dan Neal, 43.

Speaking at the launch of her new book Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, she said: “I didn’t just get sick mentally, I got sick physically.”

He told the audience at London’s Royal Festival Hall: “Last year I ended up in the back of an ambulance twice because my heart failed.”

‘I knew it wasn’t right. It turned out that my heart needed to be reset. I remember putting on resus and it had all these pads with all these wires and I didn’t understand what it was.’

He continued: “Only afterwards I said, ‘What were the pads for?’ And they said, ‘If you hadn’t caught your breath… because we would have had to electrically restart you.’

Now, appearing on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, the TV personality said: “My body completely shut down. I wouldn’t eat. I went through a stage where I couldn’t even talk, which for some people could be quite useful.

The former Celebrity Big Brother housemate, who claims she hasn’t stopped working since her stint on The X Factor in 2012, confessed she “needed” a break.

He said: “It was tough, but on reflection, yes, I had to stop. It was maybe a 10-year meltdown. I haven’t stopped since the day I went on The X Factor.

‘Nothing stopped. I don’t regret stopping. I think if I try to continue, maybe I could have handled things better from a personal point of view. I don’t regret stopping.’
