Josh Addo-Carr is on course to break the record for most tries in a single World Cup, with five tries in Australia’s emphatic quarter-final win over Lebanon on Saturday morning.
Australia’s 48-4 win at Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium, which saw skipper James Tedesco rested at half-time following a corkage, will now see them face the winner of the match between New Zealand and Fiji on Sunday morning in next week’s semi-final.

It comes after a record night for Addo-Carr, who scored 11 tries in three World Cup games this year, including a hat-trick in 19 minutes on Saturday.
The record for most tries in a tournament was set by his Kangaroos teammate Valentine Holmes at the 2017 World Cup on home soil.
During the 2017 tournament, Holmes also set the record for most tries in a single match, with six tries in Australia’s semi-final win over Fiji five years ago.
Holmes also scored five tries in a group game against Samoa during the same tournament, a feat equaled by Addo-Carr in the comprehensive victory over coach Michael Cheika’s Lebanese side.
