Huge crowds gathered in London, Windsor and royal venues across the UK on the national bank holiday, with the service set to attract millions of TV viewers around the world.

The Queen’s lie in state ended at 6.30am with mourners queuing for hours to see the coffin of the late monarch pay their last respects.

Mourner recalls how he ‘broke down in tears’

Sandy Mar, 54, recalled how she broke down in tears as she watched the Queen’s hearse pass through the gates of Windsor Castle.
