The Duke of Sussex’s autobiography has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever, selling 400,000 copies so far in hardback, e-book and audio formats on its first day of publication.

Larry Finlay, managing director of Spare’s publisher, Transworld Penguin Random House, said: “We always knew this book would fly, but it is exceeding even our most optimistic expectations.

“As far as we know, the only books that have sold more on their first day are the ones starring the other Harry (Potter).”

A number of London bookshops opened at midnight to meet high demand after it went on official sale, with booksellers reporting tight embargoes ahead of the launch. Others have extended their hours.

Spare has already topped many bestseller lists, labeled as one of the “biggest pre-order titles for a decade”.

The Duke of Sussex has made several television appearances in the US and UK to promote his memoir, most notably giving an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby.

Prince Harry says he is no longer ‘angry’ as he reflects on royal family relationship

Prince Harry has said he is “no longer angry” as he reflected on his relationship with the royal family in an interview with ABC.

At times, the discussion saw the Duke of Sussex criticize members of his family and the British press for their treatment of him and his wife.

However, towards the end, Harry admitted that despite the ongoing tensions with his family – and the treatment he suffers from the press – he is no longer “angry”.

“I’m not angry anymore. There are things that will still make me angry, but I’m not angry anymore,” he said.

The Shakespearean tragedy of King Charles and his sons at war

His very name, fashioned in the style of Henry V from his formal title of Henry of Wales, has an old air, as if, in the province of Helmand, his commander intoned: “Cry ‘ God for Harry, England and St George!'” before unleashing the dogs of war by helicopter ‘with the Taliban. This kind of thing.

Prince Harry’s Spare: A Chaotic But Stylish Memoir That Sets The Royal Family On Fire

You might think you’ve already read Prince Harry’s Spare memoir. Virginity lost to a stallion trainer behind a pub. The fight with Guillem who breaks the dog’s bowl and breaks his collar. The constant appeal of his family reporting to the press. This book doesn’t so much lift the curtain on private royal life as rip it open and shake its contents. But it’s also very detailed and, at times, well written; if harry’s going to burn his family down, at least he’s done it in style.

Spare’s ghostwriter JR Moehringer was behind tennis star Andre Agassi’s extraordinary Open memoir, and his choice as Harry’s collaborator was an early indication that the book would not be a memoir of curling celebrities. Still, he’s surprisingly frank. His wife may be a natural in front of the camera, but Harry seems to hit his stride on paper, his voice more authentic than the Californian inflections he fell into while being interviewed with Meghan for her big docuseries souffle. Netflix (between the Oprah and De sobra bombs, the streaming giant might justifiably feel short-changed) even if its style is sometimes a little chaotic, written in a gallop of elegant, staccato sentences that speak of ” Ma”, “Pa”, “Willy” and (yes). ) “todgers”.

In the phone call, the couple was discussing wedding rehearsal schedules.

“Meg said, ‘Oh, yes!’ I remember: you don’t remember anything, and I said it’s no big deal, it’s baby brain. Because you just had a baby. It’s hormones,” Harry recalls.

Prince Harry says silence is ‘least effective’ way to deal with ‘painful elements of war’ amid Taliban claims

Prince Harry has spoken candidly about his decision to include excerpts in his memoir about his time in the army and the lives he took, with the Duke of Sussex revealing that “detailing” his experiences help in your “healing journey”.

In his memoir Spare, which was published on January 10, the Duke spoke of his two tours in Afghanistan and “precisely how many enemy combatants” he had killed.

“So, my number: twenty-five. It was not a number that gave me any satisfaction. But it wasn’t a number that made me feel ashamed either,” he wrote. “Naturally, I would have preferred not to have that number on my military resume, in my mind, but equally I would have preferred to live in a world where it didn’t there were Taliban, a world without war.”
