CNN –
Two explosions rocked Jerusalem early Wednesday, killing one person and wounding more than a dozen in a suspected “combined terrorist attack,” according to an Israeli police spokesman.
The first blast occurred at a bus station near the entrance to Jerusalem at 7:06 a.m., wounding at least 11 people, including one person who died later, the spokesman said.
After a second explosion nearly half an hour later at the city’s Ramot junction at 7:30 a.m., three people were evacuated with minor injuries, police added.
Initial investigations indicated that explosive devices were planted at both blast sites and the suspects are being investigated, the police spokesman said.
After the first explosion, two paramedics from Magen David Adom, an affiliate of the Israel Red Cross, said they found two seriously injured people on the ground when they arrived at the scene.
“We were at the MDA station at the entrance to the city when we heard a huge explosion,” they said. “We immediately rushed to the scene in large numbers, including ambulances, MICUs (mobile intensive care units) and medicine.”
“Two seriously injured were nearby, a 16-year-old at the bus stop and a 45-year-old on the pavement.”
This is breaking news. More to come…
