Let’s try again, shall we?
The NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Saturday, but inclement weather postponed it until today.
You can watch it on CNBC, the NBC Sports app, Peacock, MRN or SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Kyle Larson is on the pole. Fifteen drivers compete for two elusive playoff spots. Let’s do this.
Live updates will be posted in the section below and will be posted frequently during the race. Please refresh this page for the latest news. Full results will be posted after the race.
Live Updates: Daytona International Speedway
Stage 3
Round 113: Time is reportedly a concern for many teams, who may not believe they have 49 laps to go. This is causing some consternation up front and some drivers are a bit more aggressive than normal. Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who needs to win to make the playoffs, is in the Top 5. As is Bubba Wallace. Reddick holds the lead. Logano and Bowman are also on the prowl.
Round 108: Back to green flag racing. Logano and Reddick lead the field up front.
Round 104: Still under caution. Joey Logano is still the top car. After the wreck shook things up in the Top 10, Tyler Reddick (who caused the wreck), takes second place. Alex Bowman, Ricky Stebhouse Jr. and Austin Cindric round out the Top 5…for now. Chastain, Lajoie, Reddick, Buescher, Truex, all somehow involved in the accident.
Round 102: ATTENTION! Martin Truex Jr. is involved in this one, and now he and Ryan Blaney have been caught up in clashes that had nothing to do originally. There is significant cosmetic damage to Truex’s car. McDowell also among those with significant damage.
Lap 100: Green green green Stage 3 is underway and McDowell leads the field to the flag. He has quickly moved past Joey Logano.
Round 99: Rain approaches north and east of runway, reports rain on beach. So far it’s dry on the track, but if there is a wear, the race is official, and some teams may try to play a strategy to be ahead in a stop to try and get a win.
Round 97: Michael McDowell has a big sop on pit road, taking fuel only to jump 16 places to third. Kyle Busch is penalized for speeding on pit road and will have to go through his penalty, damaging his track position. Ty Dillon, Chris Buescher and BJ McLeod sat out under the yellow of the competition.
Stage 2
Round 96: Kyle Busch masterfully holds off a few late pushes from Denny Hamlin and others to take the Stage 2 win. Behind him: Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Bubba Wallace, Todd Gilliland, Tyler Reddick, Kevin Harvick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Austin Dillon.
Round 85: Tyler Reddick, despite having an unstable car, leads the pack. Reddick is bouncing back and forth, cutting Chase Elliott on the inside draft line and then Kyle Busch on the outside line.
Lap 80: Halfway! This means that the race is now ‘official’ – the results will be recorded if it rains and the race cannot be restarted.
Round 78: The Toyotas enter pit road and only get gas. The rest of the field virtually hits pit road a lap later, setting up what should be an exciting conclusion to stage two.
Round 67: And the mayhem that is Daytona continues! Harrison Burton, Ross Chastain and Justin Haley are among the drivers who have shown up at the front of the pack on Sunday. Joey Logano continues to have a solid run. The #22 car seems to be having the most consistent run yet.
Lap 60: Ryan Blaney goes down twice. The damage to his car in the Stage 1 crash is rearing its ugly head.
Round 54: Chris (Christopher?) Buescher has made moves in Stage 2. The 17 car is fourth, third on the main draft line. Erik Jones and William Byron lead the pack.
Round 41: And we are back under green. Bubba Wallace leads the outside line. Three wide after turn 1. Erik Jones and Corey LaJoie also to the front.
Round 36: Brad Keselowski, caught in the Stage 1 wreck, is done for the day. That effectively ends playoff hopes for the relatively new owner and veteran driver.
Stage 1
Round 35: Joey Logano takes the lead on the restart and holds on to win Stage 1. Huge playoff point for the #22 car. Other cars in the top 10 (in order): Chase Elliott, Harrison Burton, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr ., Corey LaJoie, Bubba Wallace, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Erik Jones, Michael McDowell.

Round 31: Shipwrecked! Denny Hamlin seems to come loose and spins after some contact from Erik Jones, and a bunch of cars are caught up in the wreck in Stage 1. Among those drivers: Ryan Blaney, Christopher Bell, Brad Keselowski, Hamlin. The caution is out. Can Blaney’s car be recovered? (Team number 12 answered in the affirmative.)
Round 27: Kyle Larson is done for the day. His win at Watkins Glen last week is even more valuable as he and a handful of other drivers battle for second place in points. The group is also about to turn over Austin Cindric.
Round 21: Erik Jones and Denny Hamlin are making moves on the outside line. Jones in the No. 43 car is one of the few drivers who needs a win to make the playoffs. Chase Elliott (P2) and Joey Logano (P4) still lead the inside line.
Round 15: Kyle Larson must enter pit road. Car #5 appears to have some sort of mechanical problem. Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric missed the draft; he’s swiping to make sure he doesn’t get penciled in. Eighteen laps to the end of Stage 1.

Round 10: The rain is pouring down in turns 1 and 2. It hasn’t slowed down the race on Sunday. It’s worth keeping an eye on, especially how it affects visibility.
Round 7: Kyle Larson still leads the outside line, but that’s nine cars behind the leader, Chase Elliott, who leads the inside. Kyle Busch has intentionally fallen on his back. Three wides at the back of the pack!
Round 4: Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Christopher Bell and Kevin Harvick all on the main draft line inside. Kyle Larson, who started on the pole, leads the second row. Larson is in P5 at the moment.
Green flag, 10:06 a.m.: And off we go!
10:03 am: The cars race around the hallowed grounds of Daytona International Speedway. The track looks decently dry. The mid-summer day race makes Daytona a different, potentially smoother race than if it had started last night.
9:53 a.m.: Engines about to be fired. Rain is in the area, but appears to be easing.
9:25 a.m.: The pre-race schedule, which as you know is subject to change, is as follows this morning: the roll call is set for 9:46, the national anthem is scheduled for 9:47, the order is for 9:53 a.m., and the green flag should fall around 10:05 a.m.
9:19 am: According to NASCAR, no cars fall on the back end yet. Some other details: Speed on pit road is 55 mph; caution vehicle speed is 70 mph; The fuel window is 44 turns.
9:05 a.m.: NASCAR’s regular season finale, barring inclement weather (again), will begin in one hour. That means it will start during the return race of F1’s summer break, which is shown on ESPN2. Great day of racing!
Who won the pole at Daytona?
Daytona Cup qualifying was rained out, so the starting lineup was set by the rulebook. Kyle Larson is in P1. His teammate Chase Elliott is in P2. It will be interesting to see how the two start given their physical finish at Watkins Glen.
