Officers in Coquitlam, BC say they are dealing with a “major police incident” involving multiple crime scenes.
No further details have been released about the incident, but DriveBC tells motorists to expect significant delays on Hwy 1 between Exit 44 and King Edward Street.
Randy Kang told CBC he was leaving work at a car dealership on Lougheed Highway when he saw police lights and heard people screaming before seeing officers running after someone.
He says he saw several shots fired and captured the incident on video.
“Pretty intense, it definitely took me by surprise,” Kang said.
He added that as he was driving home later, he witnessed numerous police cars speeding towards Surrey.
New Westminster’s Braid SkyTrain station was closed for more than an hour Tuesday afternoon as a result of the incident, but transit police said it would reopen shortly before 6 p.m. PT.
More to come.
