ancient kitchen master Host Matt Preston has been caught in a heated mic moment.
The food media personality was hosting a segment during TikTok’s For You Fest on Thursday night when she had the unscripted moment.
In a video posted on TikTok by “alright.hey”, Preston can be heard in an audio snippet dropping the C-bomb, referencing the concert.
TikTok creator “alright.hey” said in the video: “I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this, but last night was the For You Fest and Matt Preston hosted a cooking segment. The whole time seemed to have overcome it.
“And then when he came off the stage, I don’t think he realized the microphone was still on and he said this: ‘What a job.’
“Probably the most iconic thing that happened all night.”
Preston saw the funny side of the incident, posting under the video on her verified TikTok account, “Oopsie daisy! Well I had a really fun night.”
Most of the comments below the video seemed to be on Preston’s side, with some commenting that it made him more relatable or that he loved them more.
Aussies love a hot mic moment when the shiny veneer of celebrity-constructed public personas slips.
And given the relatively innocuous comment, Australians’ lax attitudes to swearing, including the C-bomb, and the fact that Preston wasn’t disparaging any individual, the hot mic moment is unlikely to do any damage to his brand.
Tony Armstrong presented the TikTok For You Fest at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and was streamed live on the social media platform.
Winners included Katrina Ashleigh for Video of the Year, Jazz Thornton for TikTok for Good and Kat Clark for TikTok Creator of the Year.
Preston’s management have been approached for comment.
