According to reports, James has been pressuring his Los Angeles Lakers to acquire Irving in a hugely successful exchange for Russell Westbrook. Playing together in the Drew League would only have added fuel to that fire, but even under the original plan, James and Irving were not scheduled to appear in the same game.
