Johnny Depp has been reported to have written a song about his experience of the long and highly publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
The track, which will premiere on Friday 15 July, is one of two songs written by the actor on a collaborative album titled 18, which has been recorded alongside British guitarist Jeff Beck.
On the title of the album, Beck said, “When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we feel 18 again, so it also became in the album title “.
The first single from the album, This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr, is an original by Depp. “I was surprised,” Beck said on the track. “This song is one of the reasons I asked him to do an album with me.”
Depp added, “It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the real greats and someone I now have the privilege of naming my brother.”
“I think you’ve said enough for a fucking night,” he sings with Beck, according to the Sunday Times.
“You’re sitting there like a dog with an itch of seven years … If you had a penny, it wouldn’t get in your hand,” she sings in a song called Sad Motherfuckin ‘Parade.
He joined Beck on stage at several of his recent concerts in the UK during his defamation trial and is also reportedly planning appearances on stage on Beck’s upcoming European tour.
Along with Depp’s two original songs, the album, which has been recorded over the past three years, includes 13 songs that include versions of Motown artists’ tracks, as well as the Beach Boys, John Lennon, Velvet Underground and Killing Joke.
After joining TikTok in June, Depp shared a video montage of his recent UK tour with Jeff Beck with a caption thanking his “most beloved, loyal and unwavering supporters”.
In the post, also shared on Instagram, Depp wrote, “We’ve been everywhere together, we’ve seen it all together. We’ve done the same thing together. We’ve done the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we’ll all move forward together “.

In a statement to People magazine, a Heard spokesman responded to his message, saying: “As Johnny Depp says ‘it’s moving forward’, women’s rights are receding. The message of the verdict on victims of domestic violence it’s … be afraid to get up and talk. “
Depp won her trial in June, with a jury finding Heard had defamed her ex-husband when she wrote a 2018 opinion piece in the Washington Post about being a survivor of domestic violence.
Although she did not mention Depp by her name in the piece, her lawyers argued that it falsely implied that she was sexually and physically abused by him during their marriage.
