The man who authorities say killed four University of Idaho students in November is willing to waive his extradition hearing, his attorney told CBS News. Bryan Kohberger, 28, will face a judge for a hearing on Tuesday.
Kohberger still has to be in front of a judge Tuesday to sign the paperwork, Monroe County Chief Public Defender Jason LaBar said.
The four victims: Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington; Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona; Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho, were found dead Nov. 13 in a home Kernodle, Mogen and Goncalves shared with two other roommates, who were unharmed.
Authorities announced Kohberger’s arrest Friday in the case, which has captured national attention and generated heavy speculation on social media over the past six weeks.
“Obviously because of the attention this case is getting, I’m assuming Idaho is already prepared and ready to transport him back,” LaBar said.
Depending on when Idaho authorities can arrive, he said, Kohberger could be back in the state in as little as 72 hours after the hearing.
LaBar, who said he was only representing Kohberger for extradition, said the procedure allows authorities 10 days to pick him up.
“But I would imagine it will happen pretty quickly,” he said.

Idaho authorities said Friday that Kohberger, who was arrested in Pennsylvania on a fugitive warrant, faces four counts of first-degree murder and burglary. Moscow Police Chief James Fry said Friday that state law limits how much information about the investigation they can release because the probable cause statement is sealed until Kohberger appears in court. Idaho.
LaBar said Saturday he had no details of the investigation to share.
“Because I’m only representing him at extradition, I told him specifically, I don’t really want to talk about anything about the case other than what the extradition hearing would involve. Because I don’t have the probable cause affidavit, like everyone else.” , LaBar said.
