The Sussexes’ controversial documentary came to a conclusion this morning as the final three episodes were released on Netflix.
As the world gains unprecedented access to the couple’s private lives, their relationship with Buckingham Palace and senior members of the royal family has been highlighted.
Meghan claimed a private secretary compared her to a “foreign organism”, Prince Harry described “terrifying” scenes of his brother, the Prince of Wales, “yelling” at her and the couple said the press was to blame for the miscarriage of the Duchess of Sussex.

Harry says William shouting at him was ‘terrifying’
Harry has such happy memories of Sandringham, where he spent every Christmas, and now he was back in very different circumstances.
He says he went in with the same proposition, but was given five options, ranging from everything to everything.
He chose option three, half-in-half-out: having his own jobs, but also working on behalf of the Queen. However, it quickly became clear that it wasn’t going to work.
“It was terrifying to have my brother yelling and being yelled at and my dad saying things that weren’t true and my grandma just sitting there quietly taking it all in.
“It was very hard.”
Harry said they “had to believe it was more about us and maybe the problems they had as opposed to their partner, the media and themselves in that relationship that was causing us so much pain.
“They saw what they wanted to see.”
“The saddest part was this wedge created between my brother and I so that he is now on the side of the institution.
“I understand some of that. This is his heritage, so some of that is already ingrained in him and some of his responsibility is the survival and continuation of this institution.”
A story emerged suggesting the Sussexes were leaving because William had bullied them.
He was later told that a joint statement was released squashing that report.
“I couldn’t believe it. No one had ever asked me for permission to put my name on a statement like that.”
He called Meghan who burst into tears. “In four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother, but for three years they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”
Harry said there was no other choice at the time, they had to get out of there.
He said he had seen cartoons of him on all fours with Meghan holding a dog leash.
“How predictable for a woman to be blamed for a partner’s decision. In fact, it was my decision, she never asked to leave,” said the Duke of Susses.
“It was misogyny at its best.”
A couple claims the palace leaked stories to the press
The couple said they discovered the tabloids knew about their proposal.
Meghan blames the fact that Charles asked Harry to put it in writing.
“It became clear that the institution had leaked the fact that we were going back to Canada,” says Harry. “The key piece of this story that let me know that the contents of that letter between my father and I had been leaked was that we were willing to give up our Sussex titles. That was the gift.
“I was like wow, our story, our life, they literally just got pulled out from under us.”
Meghan revealed she was confronted by a member of the public during a walk in Liverpool by a woman who told her: “What you’re doing to your dad, it’s not right.”
It was, he said, the first time he realized that “people actually believe” what is written in the “tabloids.”
“And then my whole center was shaken to the core,” she said.
“What was he doing to…” Harry said. “Enough pain, enough suffering.”
She described how her mother Diana, Princess of Wales, would be crying on the way to the engagements, with her father telling her “almost there” before she was expected to put on make-up and face the cameras.
Prince Harry has accused the palace’s communications teams of “leaking and planting” negative stories, suggesting his own family failed to stop it.
“But no one would have private conversations with editors saying ‘enough,'” he said.
“My father said to me, ‘Dear boy, you cannot take on the media. The media will always be the media.” And I said I fundamentally disagree.”
Saying he has 30 years of experience, he described the “constant briefings on other family members … inviting the press … it’s a dirty game.
“There are leaks, but there is also the planting of stories.
“So if the communications team wants to avoid a negative story about their director, they’ll switch and give you something negative about someone else. So the offices end up working against each other.
“You end up with this weird understanding or acceptance that happens.”
Appearing to describe her discussions with family about it, she says: And you can always say, “I didn’t know, don’t be ridiculous, are you suggesting I realize that?”.
“‘No, but what I’m asking is, have you done anything to stop it? And the answer is no.
“William and I saw what happened in our father’s office. And we agreed that we would never let that happen in our office.
“I’d rather be destroyed in the press than play with this game or this trading business.
“To see my brother’s office involved in what we said we would never do … was heartbreaking.”
Harry says he spoke to the Queen “many times” about his plan and suggested they visit when they return from Canada on January 6, 2020.
“She knew we were having a hard time,” he said.
Harry said his grandmother invited them both to tea and suggested they stay as she had no plans for the week.
Meghan says that as they boarded the plane in Vancouver, they received a message saying they were “not allowed” to visit the Queen, who was busy and had plans all week.
“That was certainly the opposite of what she had told me.”
He called her and she said she hadn’t realized she was busy but had been told she had plans all week.
“I said, come on.”
Meghan said: “I remember watching H. It’s when a family and a family business are in direct conflict.
“They’re stopping you from seeing the Queen, but what they’re really doing is stopping a grandson from seeing his grandmother.”
The press caused Meghan’s miscarriage, says Harry
Prince Harry has stepped up his war on the media by directly accusing the editors of the Daily Mail of causing his wife Meghan’s miscarriage.
The Duchess of Sussex was in the middle of a court battle with Associated Newspapers over the publication of a letter she wrote to her father Thomas Markle when she lost a baby in July 2020.
Although she has in the past hinted at the stress the case caused her at the time of the miscarriage, the couple have never gone so far as to directly link the two events.
Harry says: “I think my wife had a miscarriage because of what the Mail did.
“I looked into everything. Now do we absolutely know that the miscarriage was caused by this? Of course not. But given the stress this caused, the lack of sleep and the timing of the pregnancy, how many After weeks, I can tell from what I saw that this miscarriage was created by what they were trying to do to her.”
Speaking about her miscarriage in July 2020, Meghan told the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan: “I was pregnant, I wasn’t really sleeping and the first morning we woke up in our new home was when I miscarried.” .

Meghan described King Charles, then Prince of Wales, as “very charming”.
Of their wedding, she said: “Harry’s dad is so lovely. I said to him, I’ve lost my dad in this, so for him to be my father-in-law was very important to me.
“So I asked him to walk me down the aisle and he said yes. It was all surreal.”
