In short, it looks like the Tensor G2 will be better in terms of performance, although it still won’t match Android phones powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or 8 Plus Gen 1 chips, let alone the soon-to-be-released Gen 2 version . in 2023.

When the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro arrive on Thursday, they’ll be the second phones Google has released this year, after the Pixel 6a came out over the summer.
Assuming Google doesn’t adjust pricing for the Pixel 7, and it’s rumored to start at the same $599 as the Pixel 6, budget shoppers will have a decision to make. Will the updated Tensor chip and any other advantages the Pixel 7 offers be enough to justify the $150 increase over the $449 price of the Pixel 6a? (And if you take advantage of one of the best Pixel 6a deals out there right now, you can find the phone for under $400.)
We won’t be able to fully answer that question until we get a chance to test the Pixel 7, but our Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 6a comparison can give you an idea of what to expect heading into the launch event.

Product launches don’t happen in a vacuum cleaner, or even robot vacuum cleaner product launches, and Google’s Pixel 7 debut certainly comes at an interesting time for the smartphone world. The launch event takes place a day before the final iPhone 14 model hits stores, a fact we expect Apple to mention before, during and after the Made by Google event.
This upcoming iPhone release includes the iPhone 14 Plus, in case you forgot. Thursday’s Made by Google event will feature more than the new Pixel phones and the Pixel Watch. Google has also said that the new Nest products will have features, although it appears that Google announced these devices a few days earlier.
Specifically, Nest smart home products announced this week include the Google Nest Wifi Pro (pictured above), the second-generation Nest Doorbell, and a revamped Google Home app. Editor-in-Chief Mike Prospero is particularly pleased with the changes to Google Home, as they will add the ability for smart home devices to turn on or off based on the state of another device. This should make Google’s smart home platform more comparable to what Apple and Amazon offer.

One thing we know will be different between the Google Pixel Watch and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 are the bands. Google is using a proprietary connection system for its bands that may throw users for a loop at first.
Fortunately, the default Active Bands have been leaked ahead of the highly anticipated Pixel Watch, so we know how they work. It should be pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but it certainly seems like a different approach than we’ve seen on other smartwatches.

One of the best things about smartwatches is that they allow for a great deal of customization. And that will be true for the Google Pixel Watch, with reliable tipster OnLeaks publishing a number of faces that the Pixel Watch will support, as well as a mix of straps.
These straps range from color block silicone and leather versions to a woven strap form and what looks like a more durable set of straps for outdoor use. When it comes to colors, they’re all a bit more muted than we’d expect from Google, with only the green and red fabric options offering a more playful look.

Well, let’s talk about the Pixel Watch. If you’ve been wondering what it might look like outside of Google’s glamorous renders and lifestyle images, check out some of these images from one of the first Google Pixel Watch unboxing videos.
While the design looks pleasantly minimal, you can see the thick bezels on the screen, which may be off-putting to some. I (Roland Moore-Colyer) am still open to the design, which looks a bit like an Apple Watch crossed with a Galaxy Watch 5. I’d have to try one before I’m convinced to move away from Cupertino’s smartwatch .

In terms of specs, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro may seem disappointing, as they’re just iterative upgrades over the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. But the phones’ standard specs aren’t the full story here.
Rather, it’s the Tensor G2 chip, which could offer a huge boost in smart capabilities over the first-generation Tensor chip. This could mean we’re getting an even better Magic Eraser, as well as a mix of smart new capabilities. This will likely be the main thrust of the Google event.

One of the biggest leaks we’ve had ahead of Google’s October event is a spec dump for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. These are as previously rumored and expected, especially with the cameras including a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10.8MP selfie snapper on both phones, with the Pixel 7 Pro also getting a of 48 MP telephoto lens.
What has improved, however, are the zoom levels that these cameras can achieve. According to the spec sheet, you can now get up to 8x Super Res Zoom (using the main camera) on the Pixel 7, up from 7x on the Google Pixel 6. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 Pro improves on the Pixel 6 Pro’s 4x optics . zoom moving to 5x zoom, with a maximum of 30x magnification when both optical and digital zoom are mixed.

Let’s kick things off with a new Google Pixel Watch leak. This one comes courtesy of serial leaker Roland Quandt, who appears to have had his hands on marketing materials for the Pixel Watch.
These new images show how the Google Pixel Watch has comically large bezels. This goes against a previous Google video that showed the smartwatch with what appears to be more screen real estate. This may be a little disappointing for some, who might have been hoping for a near bezel-less display to challenge the Apple Watch 8. But we’d have to get our hands on the Pixel Watch first before jumping to conclusions. on whether the large bezels are a terrible mistake or simply complement the rounded design of the watch.
