ATLANTA — No. 4 Ohio State leads No. 1 Georgia 28-24 at halftime in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Peach Bowl. The Bulldogs found themselves in a 21-7 hole midway through the second quarter, but rattled off 17 straight points to take the lead with just under 2 minutes left in halftime. Quarterback CJ Stroud led the Buckeyes with a 75-yard drive in just four plays, leading to a 37-yard touchdown to Xavier Johnson that gave OSU the lead at halftime.
The story so far has been the game of both offenses. The Bulldogs have 313 total yards and are averaging 9.8 yards per play, while the Buckeyes have racked up 248 and 7.8 yards per play. Stroud is 15-of-19 for 238 yards and three touchdowns, showing why he’s a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist.
There are two injury notes to watch out for. Georgia was without starting right tackle Warren McClendon, who went down with a leg injury in the SEC championship game. Also lost tight end Darnell Washington to an ankle injury; his return is questionable as Washington has been ruled out before a re-evaluation at halftime.
