“We also have some English teams apart from City that are quite good. Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They are a bit in the same row.”
Haaland admitted that Pep Guardiola’s presence at City influenced his decision. The Norwegian international has performed incredibly well under the former Barcelona manager.
“I’ve never moved to a club because of the manager. But it’s a big plus [Pep] Guardiola at City, as he is the best coach in the world. It’s the best sports project in the world at the moment and it’s where I’ll do my best.”
Haaland also revealed that several City players convinced him to join the team after Dortmund’s Champions League game with the Englishman in 2021. He added: “After this game, I think 15 people said he should come. [John] Stones and Rubén Dias, [Ilkay] Gundogan, [Phil] foot, [Kevin] De Bruyne…”
