Eddie Jones’ seven-year reign as England manager will come to an end this week, according to various media reports.
Just nine months away from the Rugby World Cup, one of the most successful managers in England history will end his tenure with his assistant, Steve Borthwick, to take over.
Jones will reportedly be paid more than $1 million, with a severance agreement dismissed.

Jones has been under extreme pressure to keep his job after his boss said he was “very disappointed” with the results of the Autumn Nations Series.
Jones apologized to fans after his side were bullied by the Springboks in a replay of the 2019 Rugby World Cup final.
South Africa defeated England at their stronghold of Twickenham for the first time in eight years in a 27-13 demolition of the world champions last month.

England finished the year with five wins, six losses and one draw, their worst statistical record in 14 years.
The Springboks’ flat loss followed a draw with New Zealand, a loss to Argentina and a win over Japan.
“We’d like to thank the England fans for their patience and support, we care how they feel,” Rugby Football Union chief executive Bill Sweeney said in a statement after the Springboks’ defeat.

“Like them, we are very disappointed with the results. Despite good individual performances and the arrival of great new talent in the team, the overall results are not where we expect them to be.”
The RFU said its review committee, which includes board members and executives along with former players and independent coaches, will hold a series of meetings over the next two weeks to discuss the Autumn Nations campaign and how they could make improvements ahead of the Six Nations.
Australian coach Jones is under contract for the 2023 World Cup and has been linked with a move to the United States to lead his national team after that.

But World Cup-winning manager Jake White wrote “my gut feeling is he’s in trouble” in a RugbyPass column.
“The one area Eddie has regressed in, and I’ve said this before, is his inability to retain staff, and it appears that more key personnel are reportedly faltering,” White wrote.
“He seems to make the same mistakes wherever he goes. It points to indecisiveness or perhaps inflexibility.
Also, having 180 players on the field for the last seven years can be seen as a strength, but it can also be interpreted as not having decided what your best team is. Time is running out on that front.”
