“That’s why they can’t survive doing criminal work, and that’s why they’re leaving,” Heeley said, saying the situation affected the diversity of the legal profession. “It gradually gets better after that, but unless you bring in that new blood, where are the middle-ranking lawyers coming from? Where are the senior lawyers coming from?”
