Bills safety Damar Hamlin stayed on the field after a scary hit
NFL player Damar Hamlin is talking to hospital family and teammates on FaceTime after being taken off his ventilator, amid a “remarkable” recovery from the cardiac arrest he suffered on Monday in rural area.
In a statement, the Buffalo Bills said Friday: “Damar’s breathing tube was removed overnight. He continues to make remarkable progress in his recovery. His neurological function remains intact and he has been able to speak with his family and the care team”.
Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center previously said the 24-year-old remains “critically ill” at the hospital, but he woke up Wednesday evening and was able to ask who won the Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals communicating it in writing.
New audio from first responders to Hamlin’s crash has revealed their urgency as they tried to save his life. In the recording, obtained by the New York Times, you can hear the first medics on the scene increasing the severity of the situation.

The Buffalo Bills have confirmed that the 24-year-old has FaceTimed his teammates for a meeting and confirmed, “I love you guys.”
Hamlin, who collapsed during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, also had his breathing tube removed at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
“According to UCMC doctors, Damar’s breathing tube was removed overnight. He continues to make remarkable progress in his recovery,” the team said in a statement Friday.
“His neurological function remains intact and he has been able to speak with his family and care team.”
