The Warragamba Dam has been pouring more than 500 gigaliters from the Hawkesbury and Nepean rivers a day.
Even if the rain starts to ease this afternoon, the water catchment system will continue to drag water downstream, causing fluctuations in river and debris levels until at least the end of the week.
Early in the morning, Emergency Services Minister Steph Cooke said the question of whether the dam wall should be raised was “complex” as it is not built for mitigation. but for the water supply.
He confirmed that the emergency services continue to provide information to the government about the dam, which will report this decision.
