New details have been revealed about the death of the Queensland child

A Brisbane court has heard disturbing new details about the circumstances of the death of a child, allegedly at the hands of his mother.

Dexter was only nine months old when he died.

The Brisbane Supreme Court heard a post-mortem report that revealed he was malnourished and probably suffered severe neglect of his most acute needs.

His mother, Natalie Jade Whitehead, was allegedly using drugs with her partner and told police that one night she put the baby to sleep at 8.30pm and did not monitor him for 21 hours.

When he did, he was dead.

The court learned that the woman tried to hide her drug use by putting syringes in a neighbor’s container before notifying authorities of the child’s death.
