Travelers may want to ‘change work patterns’ as Queen stays in state for five days, No 10 says
Downing Street has said travelers may want to “change their working patterns accordingly” as London will be “extremely busy” because the Queen is in state, which will take place from 5.30pm on Wednesday until at 6:30 a.m. on Monday.
“We can’t be more specific about numbers at this point. We expect it to be very busy,” spokeswoman Liz Truss said.
“I think for the Queen Mother it was about 200,000 people, hopefully [it] to be much more than that for this situated state. But at this time, however, we cannot be more specific about the exact figures.”
On whether commuters would have to work from home this week if they normally travel to the capital from outside London, he said some people “may want to change their working patterns accordingly” but conceded that “no everyone will have that ability.”
Asked if there will be facilities for people who are physically unable to stand in line for 30 hours, he said: “Obviously, we want everyone to be able to attend, regardless of whether they have any disabilities. Our goal is to make sure you have the information you need to make the decision that’s right for you.
“There’s going to be toilets, there’s going to be first aid available, there’s going to be the possibility of people obviously going to use the toilets and getting back into queues and things like that.”
