Two men dead after shooting in south London

Two men have died after a shooting in south London.

Police received reports of shots fired in Railton Road, Brixton, at around 7.50pm on Sunday.

Armed officers attended the scene with the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance.

Two men were found injured and both were pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.

A badly damaged car was photographed at the scene, while an eyewitness told Sky News they saw emergency services performing CPR on a person on the ground.

A spokesman for the Met Police said the nature of the victims’ injuries has not been confirmed at this time.

However, a police officer near the scene of the incident confirmed to Sky News that someone had been shot.

The victims have not been formally identified and their next of kin have not yet been informed, the Met Police said.

Post-mortem examinations will be carried out in due course, the force added.

Several roads in the area are closed and there are crime scenes.

Residents have said they will see an increased police presence in the area and have been urged to speak to officers if they have information about the incident.

The shooting comes just days after two men were shot dead in east London, and a third was seriously injured.

Saydi Abu Sheikh, 23, and Zakariya Jeilani Mohamed, 32, died of gunshot wounds at the scene in Ilford in the early hours of Tuesday.

A third man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, the Met Police said.

There is no suggestion that the two shooting incidents are connected.
