New iPad 2022 UK release date: How to pre-order Apple’s 10th generation iPad

Apple has unveiled the 10th generation iPad, as well as an all-new iPad Pro. Our guide tells you all the key information you need to know, plus how and where to get the latest Apple tablets.

When it comes to changes and upgrades, it’s a mixed bag. The new iPad Pro (4th generation) doesn’t have a new design, a glass back, or wireless charging. However, it packs the powerful M2 chip, which delivers a silky smooth user experience.

Meanwhile, the iPad (10th generation) is available in four colors and features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, similar to the iPad Air 2022. They’re not quite the same, though: the standard iPad isn’t fully laminated and has no anti-reflective coating.

Apple has added an ultra-large 12MP camera that is finally geared for landscape use. It makes a lot more sense for video calling and similar uses, and ultimately feels like a nice addition. Interestingly, though, this handy new camera setup only appears on the new 10th-gen iPad, not the 4th-gen iPad Pro. It seems like a strange decision.

When it comes to design, the new iPad (10th generation) takes a real step forward and looks sleek and modern. Meanwhile, the Pro looks identical to its predecessor, although it’s not bad at all. Certainly, the standard iPad line needed more modernization and this is what it has.

The new generation 10 has the A14 Bionic processor, Touch ID and a USBC connection. It is well equipped and sure to impress users. However, it carries some curiosities, as noted. Another one is the fact that the iPad 10 only supports the first-generation Apple Pencil, not the newest accessory.

How much does the new iPad cost?

Here’s the kicker. The previous generation of iPad cost UK buyers just £319, while the 10th generation device costs £499.

That’s a pretty big jump, but is it justified?

In particular, the prices of key accessories have also increased. The Magic Keyboard isn’t compatible with the new iPads, which means you’ll have to pick up Apple’s new, and much more expensive, Magic Keyboard Folio. Cases and covers have also gone up, and it looks like Apple is raising prices across the board.

The iPad Pro (4th generation) is also more expensive than its predecessor, costing £899. The previous model was £749.
