One of Bayonetta 3’s new magic powers transforms her into… a train

With every new Bayonetta game comes a new look for the “tall enough to kick your ass” shadow witch. But in Bayonetta 3, Cereza takes on an entirely new form: a demon train.

This might sound like the setup for a crappy post, but I kid you not, one of Bayonetta’s newest forms turns her into a rootin tootin’ train. This new locomotive transformation is in full view of the train on Nintendo’s Japanese website for Bayonetta 3. It turns out that Bayonetta is able to fashion dance into a little machine that could thanks to a new power called Demon Masquerade. Demon Masquerade allows Bayonetta to fuse with her weapons, take on her form, and unleash a series of demonic combos.

According to the website, Bayonetta’s entire body fires chainsaw-like weapons similar to Chainsaw Man after merging with the Dead End Express demon engine. Break and rest, Salamander. I guess chainsaws follow the same principles as trains if you really think about it. To make things sweeter, he can also run at “high speed” when in train form. After putting a blue fire rail, Trainyonetta will choose in her path like Sora’s Big Magic Mountain theme park amusement flow attack in Kingdom Hearts 3. I guess Sora gave Bayonetta this fighting advice so little motor after he joined Super Smash. Bros. Ultimate.

Oh, and there’s also the Trainyonetta lore. Demon End Express’ is called T696 and, as you may have discovered, it’s no ordinary locomotive. It turns out to be a battle train from “a world far, far away” that was manufactured for national defense with cutting-edge technology. Naturally, somewhere along the line, T696 became a demon with a “vengeful spirit” which explains the cursed chainsaws coming out of his sides.

But why a railgun, though? Bayonetta, like Dante from the Devil May Cry series, makes contracts with demons that transform them into fancy weapons. In the past, Dante had unorthodox weapons like a guitar, a cowboy hat, and Pandora’s box. Bayonetta’s weirdest weapons include ice skates, Super Mario 64’s Chain Chomp, and a thinly veiled metaphor for a vibrator. Dante was recently able to turn a motorcycle into a weapon with Cavaliere in Devil May Cry 5, so it’s only right that Bayonetta does the same with Thomas, the Demon Tank Engine in Bayonetta 3. It’s equality.

Outside of the T696, the only other new Demonic Masquerade transformation worth mentioning for its crazy premise is its demonic microphone called the Ribbit Libido-BZ55l. After fusing with a trendy infernal demon toad named Baal, Bayonetta’s flawless singing voice becomes a powerful weapon that weakens enemies, increases their attack power and leaves a trail of poison in her wake. Yes, Bayonetta 3 is shaping up to be metal AF in more ways than one. I look forward to the day when PlatinumGames and Capcom combine their potential powers and wacky ideas by letting Bayonetta and her “game cousin” Dante form a band. We all know the two of them would sing so hard together live.

Bayonetta 3 will be released on October 28th on Nintendo Switch.
