The free release of the flu vaccine in Victoria has been expanded

Victorians will be able to access a free flu shot during the school holidays after the state government expanded the program.

Initially only available throughout June for Victorians six months and older, the release has been extended until July 10th.

Influenza vaccination was already free for children under five, over 65, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and those most at risk for medical conditions.

Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas said this winter is already shaping up to be the most aggressive flu season since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Vaccinating against both COVID-19 and the flu not only keeps the pressure on our hospitals, but also gives you and your loved ones the best possible protection during the winter period,” he said.

Free vaccines are available at 2,000 GP clinics and community pharmacies across the state.
