Queen Elizabeth’s cause of death confirmed as ‘old age’

Three weeks after her death, the cause of Queen Elizabeth’s death has been officially confirmed.

An extract published by the National Records of Scotland revealed that Her Majesty had died of “old age” at 3.10pm local time on 8 September.

She was 96 years old.

Britain’s oldest monarch died at her home in Balmoral, Scotland. His eldest daughter, Princess Anne, was named as the document’s “informant”.

It is understood that it would have been his responsibility to have notified the local registrar of the Queen’s death.

The historical document lists the monarch’s occupation as “Her Majesty the Queen”.

Her Majesty’s state funeral was held on 19 September.

Some 250,000 people paid their respects to the Queen in person by viewing her coffin as it lay in state in London.

It occurs when the British Royal Family and their households return to official duties after a period of official mourning.

Since the Queen’s death, the royal family has only carried out official duties when necessary and its members have worn black as a sign of respect when in public.
